If you’re eyeing for a Birkin bag but don’t want to spend several years on Hermès’ waiting list, here’s a chance to buy one (or thirty) on the world’s first pop-up yacht during the 56th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on November 6 to 8.
Taking advantage of the “astronomical wealth of the mega yacht community during boat show week,” said Jeff Berk, Founder of Privé Porter in a press release; VanDutch, maker of the world’s most luxurious yachts, and Privé Porter, the Instagram-based curators and purveyors of authentic and uncarried Birkin bags, team up in this decadent collaboration. Together, the luxurious duo presents a collection of 30 to 35 calfskin, crocodile, and alligator skin Birkin bags over an assortment of 25cm, 30cm, and 35cm sizes, which will be encased in a custom, jewel-like, multi-tiered display custom fitted to the VanDutch 55 pleasure yacht.
So if you feel like viewing or buying one of these PETA-unfriendly handbags—which starts at $15,000 for a calfskin Birkin, to $360,000 for a Braise Shiny Porosus 35cm Crocodile Birkin with 18-karat white gold and diamond hardware—schedule an appointment with Privé Porter and hop onto the $1.7 million yacht as it cruises along the intracoastal waterway past hundreds of multi-million dollar villas, boat show week parties and waterfront restaurants in South Florida. Alternatively, you can pay a cool $4 million for all the bags and the yacht altogether. And don’t worry if one or two handbags are sold before you buy the whole package, according to Dirk DeSouza, Chief Marketing Officer of VanDutch and Spokesperson for Privé Porter. “Privé Porter will go all out to make sure you have all the bags you desire for the money’s worth,” he said.
Describing the result of this VanDutch-Privé Porter collaboration as the ultimate luxury package, De Souza shared his top picks for “the yachtswoman who thought she had everything.”
#1: 35CM BRAISE POROSUS CROCODILE ($360,000)
Undoubtedly the rarest of all Hermès bags, the diamond Birkin bags are reserved for only the most elite clients of Hermès who spend upwards of $2 million per year with the brand, according to DeSouza. The current retail price for a 35cm diamond bag is $330,000. The color ‘Braise’ is akin to a Ferrari-red, which is rarely seen and in the highest demand of all Hermès exotic colors. In asking for $360,000, Berk added, “We’re not only chasing the Christie’s record for an auctioned Birkin that recently sold for $221,846, but we’re confident that because our bag is unused (unlike their bag), we’ll break that record-setting price.”
